Support for the Australian War Memorial Redevelopment
The Government approved and fully funded redevelopment plans for the Australian War Memorial have recently come under attack from a variety of media and former senior ranking individuals.
Many of these arguments have sighted the cost and issues including the removal of trees, all of which are addressed in the approved public proposal which includes the environmental impact and compliancy approvals.
Of key note:
- All funding has been allocated and already approved, and has not been drawn from any other services of projects, but has been approved independently and in addition to any and all Veteran services and support delivery.
- Many do not realise that ANZAC HALL - the main redevelopment site, is not the main sandstone and dome structure the War Memorial is renowned for, but is actually the metallic structure at the very rear of the War Memorial Complex.
