We Stand with Afghanistan
Right now many are hurting and feeling despair at the situation that has unfolded in Afghanistan 🇦🇫
So many Australians have been affected by the war in Afghanistan. For many of our Veterans, it was our final initiation – into combat. It was the self-actualisation for so many of when we were finally sent to do what we had been trained to do, with the mates we fought beside, inspired by a purpose carrying the Australian flag on our arm as we went willingly 🇦🇺
Most of us would get on a plane today if it meant we could be there to help. That’s what we do and why we chose to serve. While we can’t do that now, the smallest thing we can do is to connect and show our support. Support for those awaiting rescue. Support for those facing new lives not of their choosing. Support for those Afghans already within our Australian community who now know all too well what we often take for granted.
This awareness may not bring about anything other than uniting in a purpose that is greater than ourselves individually. Collectively showing that we see what is happening and will not forget. To do what needs to be done to avoid this ever happening again. To ensure that we will understand and appreciate what it means when we set our upon a course of action, and to ensure that we have planned and continue to revise what the outcome may bring on all those involved.
These are just some of the lessons our lifetime will bring.
We Stand With Afghanistan and the Afghan people. We will learn from what has happened and do what needs to be done to ensure that your suffering is not forgotten.
